FANTO is a score for performance in response to 'Ground Rhythms' by Forest Swords. FANTO is printed with wax onto 3 A4 Transparent sheets and hand-bound through the center of each page. Instead of reading the work by over-turning the pages and viewing each individually, FANTO restricts the reading of each score as the pages can only be turned in 360° directions. The transparent pages obscure the print so that each score contaminates and perforates the other making a palimpsest score of 'Ground Rhythms' and physically and conceptually reflects the ephemeral nature of these unique Forest Swords sound-works.

'Ground Rhythms' is an auto-destructive work by Forest Swords consisting of three specially commissioned recorded pieces as a response to places, buildings and systems in Liverpool that no longer exist. Using the former Liverpool Overhead Railway, Sailor's Home and David Lewis Theatre as inspiration, the three tracks will explore and question memory, space and consumption of music.

The three pieces were pressed to X-ray film and played through only once at OVERLAP on three separate turntables. The thin nature of the film means that the records (produced using a vinyl cutting process at Ted Riederer's Never Records project in London) will slowly degrade as the turntable needle passes over it, essentially destroying itself as the tracks progress.
